Forklift licence

YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OVER TO COMMENCE THIS COURSE

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will give the participant the basic knowledge and skills required to operate a forklift truck. Upon successful completion participants will be required to complete the Licence to Perform High Risk Work Application Form, provide ID as requested and submit a $55.00 licence fee to Service Tasmania (for full details got to www.wst.tas.gov.au). Please note that if the participant does not possess a current driver’s licence you are unable to operate a forklift on a public road/property.


COURSE DURATION:
A three day course including theory, practical training and assessment (written and practical). You will be expected to attend theory training on day 1 and one of the assessment days. The trainer will advise you which assessment day on day 1 of your training.


PRE-REQUISITES:
18 years of age

COURSE CONTENT:

Unit: TDTD1097B Operate a Forklift

This covers subjects that include:

• Duty of care, workplace health & safety and other legal obligations.

• Safe operating practices

• Calculate the factors that affect the stability of loads

• Identify component parts of attachments and handling precautions.

• Inspect and conduct safety and pre-start checks

• Operate a forklift truck

• Stack and de-stack a load

• Load and unload a vehicle

• Refuel and recharge a forklift.

OUTCOME:

    Statement of Attainment in partial completion of a Certificate II in Seafood Industry (Aquaculture) for the unit Operate a Forklift (TDTD1097B) issued by Seafood Training Tasmania
    Forklift Operators Licence issued by Service Tasmania
